Los Angeles Lakers news: There has been a lot of talk surrounding Team USA’s starting lineup heading into the upcoming Olympic Games. There have recently been some calls for head coach Steve Kerr to drop Philadelphia 76ers superstar Joel Embiid from the starting five in favor of Anthony Davis.
ESPN’s Kendrick Perkins has now shared his two cents worth on the issue and he left no doubt as to who he believes should start for the national team.

Speaking on Tuesday’s episode of NBA Today, Perkins sent a clear message addressed to Kerr about inserting Davis into the starting five:
“I’m wondering when [Steve Kerr] is going to put Anthony Davis in the starting lineup and take out Joel Embiid,” Perkins said. “Look, Davis has been the best player on this Olympic team on both ends of the floor. … [Embiid] looks out of shape.”

The man has a point.
The Americans have another tune-up game coming up on Wednesday against Serbia. They will need to contend with three-time NBA MVP Nikola Jokic, which will arguably be the biggest test for the USA’s frontcourt.
If Embiid remains in the starting lineup then he will need to prove that he can hack it against Jokic. Otherwise, the calls for Davis will only get louder.
