Los Angeles Lakers fans are still buzzing over the team’s decision to select Bronny James as the No. 55 overall pick of the 2024 NBA Draft on Thursday night — and rightfully so.
One of the biggest icons of the Purple & Gold is also delighted with this development. Magic Johnson is thrilled about the fact that Bronny is now joining his beloved Lakers and the Hall of Fame point guard took his excitement to social media.

Of course, Magic’s first reaction was to congratulate Bronny for achieving his dream of becoming an NBA player. Johnson was in this position as well decades ago, and although there was no doubt that he was going to be drafted into the league, the former Michigan State star also went through the motions during draft night.
Magic then highlighted the massive achievement LeBron James has achieved now that he will be playing alongside his son:
“Congratulations to Bronny James on being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers! This is a historic moment because LeBron and Bronny are the first father-son duo to play in the NBA at the same time and on the same team. Watching Bronny suit up for the Lakers during Summer League in Vegas will be must-see TV!” Johnson wrote on X, formerly Twitter.
Johnson also did his bit to hype up the upcoming NBA Summer League, which should heavily feature Bronny. This will be an opportunity for the 19-year-old to prove his worth on the big stage as he looks to secure a roster spot for the upcoming season.
