There’s no denying that even in death, Los Angeles Lakers’ Kobe Bryant still has a lot of power in the market. This can be seen in how much his final warm-up jacket, the same one he wore against the Utah Jazz in his last NBA game ever, sold for at an auction.
Bryant’s storied NBA career came to a remarkable conclusion on April 13, 2016, as he delivered a vintage performance in his final game with the Lakers. Playing against the Jazz, the 37-year-old shooting guard scored 60 points, leading his team to a 101-96 victory.
In a fitting farewell, Bryant took a career-high 50 shots, outscoring the entire Jazz team in the fourth quarter by himself (23-21). His ability to take over the game, even in his twilight years, captivated the sold-out Staples Center crowd, who showered him with chants and standing ovations throughout the night.
Despite a challenging season that saw the All-Star struggle with injuries and poor shooting, he refused to shy away from the spotlight. Instead, he embraced the farewell tour, acknowledging the significance of the moment and soaking in the emotions of his final NBA game.
As the final buzzer sounded, the five-time champion gathered his family on the court, posing for pictures and reflecting on a career that had been defined by an unparalleled competitive spirit and a relentless pursuit of excellence. His iconic performance on that night cemented his legacy as one of the greatest players to ever grace the basketball court.
