Serena Williams hosted the 2024 ESPY Awards Thursday night, and she brought some jokes, including one that poked fun at Los Angeles Lakers superstar LeBron James and his oldest son, Bronny James.
“He [Bronny James] got drafted to the Lakers where he will play with his dad. And I truly hope Bronny has a long career… so long that he will see his hairline recede, then, miraculously unrecede, like dad,” Williams said on stage.

Winner of 23 grand slam singles titles, Williams is considered by many as the greatest tennis player ever in the history of the sport. She was known for her intensity on the tennis court, but at the ESPYS, she was a colorful personality in front of a huge audience inside the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.

It was witty of Williams to use LeBron’s hairline to underscore his longevity in the NBA. He’s been in the NBA for so long that his son managed to make it to the league before he could even hang up his sneakers.
Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James still an above-average player

Even more impressive is that LeBron still looks like he could play for multiple more years in the league based on how he performed in the 2023-24 NBA season. That season, the four-time NBA Most Valuable Player averaged 25.7 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 8.3 assists while shooting 54 percent from the floor and 41 percent from behind the arc.
