For some fans, the fact that both the Los Angeles Lakers and the Phoenix Suns suffered early first-round exits in this year’s NBA Playoffs is an indication that the so-called passing of the guard is imminent. The era of LeBron James and Kevin Durant appears to be coming to an end as the young superstars in the league begin to take over.
ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith believes that now would be an opportune time for these two all-time greats to join forces.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Kevin Durant to Hollywood?

In a recent episode of First Take, the hosts argued about Durant’s potential landing spot should he decide to jump ship and leave the Suns. According to Stephen A, the Lakers would be a perfect destination for KD primarily because of the LeBron factor:

Smith made it clear that he knows cap space could be an issue. However, this did not stop him from floating the possibility of the Lakers somehow managing to bring in Durant alongside LeBron and the latter’s massive contract.

Then again, we have seen crazier things in the past. Not too many folks out there foresaw KD joining the Golden State Warriors several years ago, but somehow, the Dubs were able to make it work — both money-wise and on the basketball court.
At this point, Durant to the Lakers sounds more like a pipe dream than an actual possibility. At the same time, though, anything can happen, right?
