The Los Angeles Lakers were not exactly a well-oiled machine last season. In fact, more than a few fans out there would argue that they were lucky to even be in the playoffs in the first place.
Their post-season run did not last long at all, though, as they suffered a first-round exit at the hands of the Denver Nuggets.
According to Lakers star Austin Reaves, a lot of his team’s shortcomings stemmed from their inability to properly execute on the offensive end.
Los Angeles Lakers News: Austin Reaves Gets Brutally Honest

Speaking in a recent interview, the 6-foot-5 shooting guard revealed how he personally struggled to find his rhythm last season in the Lakers’ monotonous offensive schemes.
“The way our offense runs…you don’t see a lot of times where you drive-kick, drive-kick, drive-kick to a shot,” said Reaves, via Jesse Cinquini of Lakers Daily. “We’re kind of a one-sided offense. Or we were last year, and rhythm in those situations are tough.”
The issue for the Lakers heading into the new season is that as of right now, they’re entering the new campaign with pretty much the same group. There have been a few tweaks here and there, but LA’s inability to find success in the free agency market thus far means that it’s going to be the same core for 2024-25.

The big difference, however, is the arrival of new head coach JJ Redick. Big things are expected from the rookie shot-caller, who will now be tasked with fixing what can be described as a dysfunctional Lakers offense.
Time will tell if Redick will be able to achieve this challenging goal.
