The Los Angeles Lakers have yet to land a marquee addition to their roster this offseason. Klay Thompson, Paul George, Isaiah Hartenstein, Jonas Valanciunas, and DeMar DeRozan all signed with other teams.
Still, the Lakers should be looking for ways to shore up the supporting cast around LeBron James and Anthony Davis.
A possible Los Angeles Lakers target is not available — for now

Orlando Magic big man Wendell Carter Jr. appears to be an ideal target for the Lakers, particularly as Davis’ chief backup or as his tandem in the frontcourt. However, NBA expert Keith Smith said that the Magic have no desire at the moment to move Carter and that the former Duke Blue Devils bog man is not on the trade block.
The Orlando Magic do not have Wendell Carter Jr. on the trade block, per @KeithSmithNBA .The Magic are poised to go into the 2024-25 NBA season with a center rotation of Wendell Carter Jr., Mo Wagner, and Goga Bitadze.

Carter would be a perfect fit for the Lakers, as he can spell Davis quality minutes and/or play together with AD to form a solid frontline that can get the job done on both ends of the floor.

Carter, who was taken seventh overall in the first round of the 2018 NBA Draft by the Chicago Bulls, signed a four-year $50 million contract extension with the Magic in 2021. He will be a free agent by the end o the 2025-26 season.
