The Los Angeles Lakers followed the footsteps of several teams after winning the 2020 NBA title. They defeated the Miami Heat with ease, but all with the help of their elite squad. While some teams try to improve their roster for the next season, the Lakers took a step down.
The team parted ways with several veteran stars who helped them win the championship. Dwight Howard, Rajon Rondo, Danny Green, JaVale McGee, and Markieff Morris were not on the team. The team’s owner, Jeanie Marie Buss, still regrets letting go of the team that helped her win the trophy.
Recently, Buss appeared on the “Game with Names” show with former NFL player Julain Edelman. She mentioned that the team that won the championship should have the right to defend it.
“I will say, that I kind of came from the philosophy, kind of inspired by Phil Jackson, that when a team wins a championship, they should have the right to defend their championship. And we didn’t do that, and I regret that,” Buss said.
The Los Angeles Lakers have made significant changes this season, and Buss is happy about that. The team brought back Markieff Morris, and Buss apologized to Morris for letting him go. The Lakers owner is happy to have him back along with Luka Doncic.

The Los Angeles Lakers Are Inching Closer To Make A Postseason Run
The Lakers are currently at the fourth position in the Western Conference with a 40-23 record. LeBron James and Luke Doncic are doing a fine job. However, Doncic is questionable against the Milwaukee Bucks due to an ankle injury.
With Morris back on the squad, they have great shot at making the postseason. The Lakers are trailing the Nuggets by two games but they are still way behind the Oklahoma City Thunder. James and Doncic are the key players who helped them clinch a position in the playoffs.

The Lakers owner also mentioned that James is hungry for success, and it’s hard to comprehend what he does at his age.
“Just watching him work. In practice, it doesn’t, it’s hard to comprehend what he does at his age. And that he’s still hungry for it and works hard. There’s no shortcuts for this guy,” Buss continued via Julian Edelman Podcast.

James is also going suffering from a groin injury, but it’s not serious. The Los Angeles Lakers are predicted as a huge favorite to make the playoffs this season.
