The Los Angeles Lakers are now finding themselves on a downturn, having lost both of their last two games. After losing to the Boston Celtics in Beantown last Saturday, the Lakers got tripped up by the Brooklyn Nets on Monday night at Barclays Center via a 111-108 score.
Los Angeles was missing some key players, including four-time NBA Most Valuable Player LeBron James and Rui Hachimura due to injuries, but many still expected LA to take care of business against a team that is currently outside of the playoff and Play-in Tournament picture in the Eastern Conference.

Los Angeles Lakers’ Austin Reaves speaks up about subpar night in loss to the Nets

Austin Reaves was among those expected to step up for the banged-up Lakers, along with Luka Doncic. However, the former Oklahoma Sooners star struggled mightily from the field, as he shot just 3-for-14 from the floor, though, he went 10-for-11 from the foul line and dished out 10 assists in 36 minutes of action. Following the loss to the Nets, Reaves acknowledged his poor performance.
Via Kamenetzky Brothers:
“I just thought I played incredibly bad. That’s really as much as I can say about that. It’s really frustrating not helping your team win. When LeBron’s out, I gotta be better. I wasn’t and that’s one of the reasons we lost.”
Even Doncic had a poor shooting night, with the five-time NBA All-Star needing 26 attempts from the field to score 22 points while completing a triple-double with 12 rebounds and 12 dimes in 41 minutes.
The 40-23 Lakers will take a couple of days of rest before resuming their road trip on Thursday versus the Milwaukee Bucks at Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee.
