Long before he became a head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers, JJ Redick played for several seasons with the Orlando Magic. In fact, he spent nearly half of his 15-year career in the NBA wearing Magic colors.
Just before the Lakers took on the Magic at the Kia Center in Orlando Monday night, Redick reflected on his stint with Orlando. He also made a hilarious request for the franchise to take down a portrait of him displayed inside the arena.
JJ Redick looking back on his career in Orlando: “The seven years that I spent here were … magical.” (He also made a plea for the Magic to take down this illustration of him in his boy band hair era.)

During his time with the Magic, Redick average 9.2 points and hit 39.8 percent from behind the arc through 396 games.
Redick’s Los Angeles Lakers fall prey to Magic

After back-to-back losses to the Milwaukee Bucks and the Chicago Bulls, the Lakers entered Monday’s meeting with Orlando looking to break out of their slump.
Instead, the malaise continues for Los Angeles, as it absorbed a 118-106 loss to the Magic. The tandem of Franz Wagner and Paolo Banchero took turns pummeling the Lakers with 32 and 30 points, respectively.
Meanwhile, the Lakers got 32 points from Luka Doncic and 24 from LeBron James. Los Angeles’ defense was not up to par versus the Magic, who shot 49.4 percent from the field and hit 15 of their 40 attempts from behind the arc.
