The Los Angeles Lakers have work to do in the offseason, as they look to bounce back stronger from an embarrassing early exit from the 2024 NBA Playoffs. There are plenty of rumors linking the Lakers to potential trade targets, and that’s amid other bigger topics like LeBron James’ future in La La Land.
On a smaller rumor scale, there’s the name of a San Antonio Spurs forward Keldon Johnson who could be a worthy target for the Lakers in the summer.
Keldon Johnson as a Los Angeles Lakers trade target?

The former Kentucky Wildcats star has been a productive member of the Spurs, but his role has seemingly diminished since the arrival of Victor Wembanyama. Perhaps a change of scenery could be beneficial for Johnson, who was taken by the Spurs in the first round (29th overall) of the 2019 NBA Draft.
Via Dan Woike of the Los Angeles Times:
And Johnson is in a fascinating spot, relegated to a bench role last season in San Antonio as Victor Wembanyama blossomed. Is Johnson an empty-calories scorer who doesn’t impact winning or is their two-way potential?

Johnson still has three more years left on his current contract but he’s still just 24 years old and will not turn 25 until October. He has shown great potential, especially on offense, when given the chance. Before Wembanyama’s San Antonio arrival, Johnson averaged 22.0 points per game during the 2022-23 NBA season. His accuracy still needs work, though, as he has a career 46.5 field goal percentage and 53.0 effective field goal percentage.
