The Orlando Magic can be said as the Rocky Balboa of the 2024-2025 NBA season after yet another comeback win against the Boston Celtics, despite not having three of their main rotation guys. Jalen Suggs can only call Monday a ‘beautiful night’ for that.
The odds are against the Magic against the reigning champions after losing Mo Wagner 48 hours ago to a season-ending injury. They already don’t have top two scorers Paolo Banchero and Franz Wanger due to injuries.
They are unfazed and exemplified the ‘next man up’ philosophy’ to stage an 18-point comeback, two days after mounting a 25-point turn around to win against the Miami Heat.
Suggs said it is all about the trust for each other.
We were down 18, nobody had any ounce of doubt that we were out of it. To comeback in the 2nd half against a team coming off a chip. A lot of veterans, a lot of great players over there.… with the injuries we have. . . To come out and do it as a unit. There was no one person that was coming out to do anything. You know we have complete trust to one another.
It was indeed a team effort for the Magic to get the 108-104 win.
The bench stepped up big time and showed that trust as Wendell Carter Jr., Anthony Black, and Cole Anthony accounted for 13 assists. The starting five had 13, too.
Jalen Suggs’ statement seconded by Joe Mazzulla
Magic always show they have a fight in them no matter who is in the line-up, no matter who they are facing.
Celtics coach Joe Mazzulla thinks that has now become their trademark.
Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla on Orlando’s DNA: “They have a system. They have a DNA about their physical defense and the way they play, so regardless of who’s in who’s out you know what you’re getting from that team. You got that tonight.” pic.twitter.com/zBoaY0nCsa

The win helped the Magic retain the fourth spot in the Eastern Conference standings with Milwaukee Bucks and Miami Heat breathing down their necks.
Next up for them are the Heat and the New York Knicks on back-to-back nights.
