ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith had expressed interest in running as president of the United States. This revelation caught the attention of NBA legend Magic Johnson, who reacted amusingly to Smith’s decision.

Smith had grappled with the POTUS offer multiple times, even saying that he wasn’t willing to deal with the duties of being one. However, the First Take host has invited politicians to his show multiple times, and on April 13, he explicitly said that “he has no choice” but to run for office.

“I have no choice because I’ve had elected officials … coming up to me,” Smith said. I’ve had folks who are pundits come up to me. I’ve had folks that got a lot of money, billionaires, and others, have talked to me about exploratory committees and things of that nature.”

Even the current POTUS, Donald Trump, was looking forward to Smith’s likely candidacy during his appearance at the Cuomo Townhall podcast.

“Stephen A. is a good guy. He’s a smart guy. I love watching him,” Trump said. “You know, a lot of these Democrats I watch, I say, ‘They have no chance.’ I’ve been pretty good at picking people, and picking candidates, and I would tell you: I’d love to see him run.”

Many had wondered if Smith was serious about his political ambitions. However, Magic Johnson seemed not to buy it.

“Is it true that my boy Stephen A. Smith is running for President?” Johnson tweeted along with laughing and facepalm emojis in X.

Whether Smith will indeed run for the presidency is still uncertain. He has yet to respond to Magic Johnson’s response. However, with growing support behind him, the veteran analyst might take things formally soon.

Magic Johnson praises Brunson for clutch win against Pistons

Magic Johnson applauds New York Knicks star Jalen Brunson after having an impressive comeback in the final minutes of the Game 6 match against the Detroit Pistons. The Knicks, down by seven two minutes in the fourth, stopped the Pistons’ momentum and won the game, 116-113.

Magic Johnson congratulated Brunson in his X/Twitter account.

“When it was time to win Jalen Brunson scored 40 points including a game winning three that was set up by one of the most unbelievable crossover dribbles I’ve ever seen! The New York Knicks closed out the Detroit Pistons 4-2 in a thriller!” Johnson tweeted.

Previously, Magic Johnson also predicted that the Knicks would win their series against the Pistons but expected a showdown between stars Brunson and Cade Cunningham.

The Knicks will now face the Celtics for the Eastern Semifinals.
