If Dallas Mavericks minority owner and businessman Mark Cuban has been straightforward that the news of the Luka Doncic trade caught him off-guard, his 14-year-old son Jake Cuban has been a little shy with words but also showed disappointment over the departure of the Mavs star to LA.
In his Instagram story, Jake Cuban shared a reel of Luka Doncic fans mourning the trade of the young superstar away from the Mavs and to the Lakers. The trade deal would bring Lakers veteran Anthony Davis to the Mavs.
In his story, the young Cuban simply added a crying emoji to the reel to express his feelings toward the trade deal that shook fans of both franchises and the entire NBA fanbase as well.

Mark Cuban became the majority owner of the Dallas Mavericks in 2000. He purchased the team when it was struggling, and under his leadership, the Mavericks saw significant improvements, including winning their first NBA Championship in 2011.
However, in December 2023, Cuban sold a 73% stake in the team to Miriam Adelson and the Dumont family for around $3.5 billion. Cuban retained a 27% stake and continues to be involved in basketball operations, but he no longer has decision-making power over the team.

In 2020, while still the majority owner, Mark Cuban was quoted joking about choosing divorce from his wife rather than losing Luka Doncic from the Mavs.
Mark Cuban Not Aware of Luka Doncic Deal: “That Makes Two of Us”
During an edition of the program “Run It Back,” former Memphis Grizzlies forward Chandler Parsons revealed that he texted Mark Cuban after the news of the Luka Doncic trade to the Los Angeles Lakers broke out. As it turned out, the minority owner seemed to have no idea what went out and only got word of ti the same time the public did.

“I texted [Mark Cuban] and I said, ‘I’m so confused,” shared Parsons. “He wrote back, ‘That makes two of us.’ That kind of tells you right there, he wasn’t involved,” Parsons said. “This new ownership… they’re business people… They know nothing about the NBA or basketball, so they have fully given Nico [Harrison] the keys to [make] decisions and make big, bold moves like this… [Mark Cuban] is probably just as shocked as we all are.”
