The Memphis Grizzlies are back among the top teams in the Western Conference after a disappointing 2023-24 season, thanks to a better overall roster and more game time from Ja Morant.
The star guard was only available for nine games last season, so his 37 starts this season is a noticeable improvement compared to his nine appearances in his last campaign. While he’s still far from his All-Star form, he’s on the right track to once again becoming a dependable star for the Grizzlies.

While Memphis is on track to finish in an automatic playoff spot, Morant’s health is still stopping him from being the best version of himself that Grizzlies fans enjoyed watching from 2021 to 2023. His injury issue has become substantial enough that trade rumors have started making rounds.
His latest absence puts another question mark to Morant’s season, and fans are understandably upset with his conditioning.
Memphis Grizzlies fans blast team’s decision to rest Ja Morant against the Spurs

The team decided to bench Ja against the San Antonio Spurs, citing soreness in his right shoulder as the primary reason for the team’s decision.
Fans were quick to put the team and player on blast, saying that resting him for his soreness was unnecessary.
One fan commented that the team is better when he’s out. Another complained that it is ridiculous for superstars to refuse playing back-to-backs when they’re getting paid big dollars to do so.
One more fan was annoyed with Morant’s move to wait until the very last minute before sitting himself out of the game, while another exasperated commenter just put the entire league on blast for the kind of culture it fostered.
Morant is averaging 20.9 points, 4.1 rebounds, 7.2 assists, and 1.2 steals this season, and these numbers could have helped Memphis close the gap in the 130-128 loss to San Antonio.
