Memphis Grizzlies guard Ja Morant went viral on social media during their 124-100 win against the Charlotte Hornets last night because he unveiled a new three-point celebration that might provoke league commissioner Adam Silver.

A few days after receiving a $75,000 fine for his finger-gun gesture against Buddy Hield and the Golden State Warriors, Morant threw an imaginary grenade to the crowd after hitting a three-point shot over Taj Gibson and cupped his ears in anticipation of a blast.
Morant had been in hot water with the league committee in the past. The two-time NBA All-Star missed nearly the entire 2023-24 campaign after being suspended for 25 games for flashing guns on social media on multiple occasions.

He led with 28 points, five rebounds, eight assists, and four three-pointers on 10-for-21 shooting from the field against Charlotte. Desmond Bane, Zach Edey, Jaren Jackson Jr., Santi Aldama, and Scotty Pippen Jr. added 19, 17, 14, 11, and 10 points.
Memphis Grizzlies fans react to Ja Morant’s “provoking” grenade gesture
Memphis Grizzlies fans fear that Ja Morant may be sanctioned anew for his new three-point celly against the Charlotte Hornets, while some urge the league to let it go.

“It’s just a celebration y’all are over doing it,” a fan weighed in on X (formerly known as Twitter).
“Slowly turning into my favorite player. He’s not in a corporate environment where he has to he a robotic dork, sports are expressive by nature let him be ⚡️”
“Maybe if the league didn’t have a double standard with him. The league is to blame.”
“What’s next, an RPG? Sentry? Gonna call in an air strike? Gonna set a motion sensor claymore? Chopper gunner maybe? Release some attack dogs?” another fan chimed in.
