Memphis Grizzlies: Ja Morant’s Hilarious Reaction to No. 9 Pick Zach Edey

The Memphis Grizzlies went big during the 2024 NBA Draft. With their No. 8 overall pick, the Grizzlies decided to scoop up two-time AP Player of the Year Zach Edey of Purdue as Memphis adds considerable height to its frontcourt.

Ja Morant was tuned in intently to the draft, and he had a hilarious reaction to the Grizzlies picking up Edey.

Morant took to Twitter, formerly X, to share his honest reaction to his team’s decision to draft a 7-foot-4 center. The Grizzlies superstar used a Chris Tucker scene from Rush Hour 3 to make his point:

For what it’s worth, Morant is 6-foot-2, so Edey is more than two feet taller than the two-time All-Star. It would not be surprising if Ja actually has a similar reaction to meeting their new big-man recruit on the first day of practice.

In his senior year, Edey led Purdue all the way to the NCAA championship game behind averages of 25.2 points on 62.3 percent shooting, 12.2 rebounds, 2.0 assists, and 2.2 blocks per game.

Big things are expected from Edey this coming season as he joins former Defensive Player of the Year Jaren Jackson Jr. in Memphis’ starting frontcourt.

The Grizzlies will be looking to bounce back this coming season after failing to make the playoffs last term. With Morant back in the mix and Edey shoring up their roster, expect Memphis to be back with a vengeance in 2024-25.
