Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is one of the champions of Team USA, who defeated Team France in the finals of the gold medal match. Like his teammates, the NBA center also celebrated. However, he does it hilariously, referencing his moves from a particular movie.
After winning against the European powerhouses, Adebayo displayed his unreserved attitude by posting a video from the 2007 movie Rush Hour 3 taunting the French on his account at X.
In the movie, Detective Carter (played by the former) was holding a French driver at gunpoint. Tucker coerces the driver to say he loves America, then demands that he sang the USA’s National Anthem.
Along with the post is Adebayo hugging his Miami Heat coach, Erik Spoelstra, the assistant coach for Team USA. The dynamics between the two significantly contributed to the team’s plays.
Thanks to Spoelstra’s guidance, Adebayo is on par with his fellow NBA teammates, such as LeBron James and Kevin Durant, who are already battle-hardened Olympians.
The gold medal in the 2024 Paris Olympics is Adebayo’s second. In Tokyo, the three-time NBA All-Star also got another Olympic gold medal. He was featured in all of Team USA’s games, with an average of six points, 3.7 rebounds, 1.3 assists, and 0.8 steals per game.
Despite having star NBA centers on the team, Adebayo proved he’s still valid for Team USA.
Thanks to the dynamics formed by the coaching staff, the 27-year-old Heat was giving both offensive and defensive plays on the court.
The team benefited significantly from the latter. In the regular season of the previous season, Adebayo averaged 19.3 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.9 assists, and 0.9 blocks.
Eventually, he had a postseason-high average of 11.5 points and 2.0 blocks. He was one of the nominated players for the NBA Defensive Player of the Year.
The Miami Heat are on a mission next season.
While Bam Adebayo is in Paris, his fellow teammates back in Florida are undergoing training under Miami’s assistant coaches.
The Heat are planning to bounce back from their humiliating exit in the previous season. They went on eighth place at the end of the Regular Season.
In the Playoffs, they unfortunately had an early leave against the first-placed and eventual champions Boston Celtics, 1-4.
The Heat would retain their stars for the next season. Besides Bam Adebayo, the team’s players Nikola Jovic and Patty Mills also played for the 2024 Paris Olympics for their respective nations.
