The Miami Heat are fresh from a convincing 134-93 victory against the Los Angeles Lakers on Wednesday. While Tyler Herro took the spotlight for recording 31 points and nine three-pointers, the one-time NBA Sixth Man of the Year believes his teammate Bam Adebayo should get his due respect too.
“You know, he’s a handful to deal with when he’s getting downhill in transition, and then when he collapses, the defense is able to make place. So just clearing his head, I think, and just getting all the noise out of his head, stop reading whatever the hell he’s reading, and just be Bam,” Herro said postgame via Zachary Weinberger of ClutchPoints.
“Literally, he’s a top three center in the NBA for a reason that he has to continue to just be that, be himself. Stop reading stuff,” he added.
Bam Adebayo finished the game with 14 points, 10 rebounds, and seven assists on 6-for-8 shooting from the field. His defense is mainly why Anthony Davis had a rough shooting night, going 3-for-14 from the field and finishing with only eight points.
Miami Heat’s Bam Adebayo reacts to win against the Los Angeles Lakers
Before the Los Angeles Lakers win, Bam Adebayo was in a shooting slump because he had never shot above 40 percent from the field in his last four appearances. But according to the 27-year-old center, his confidence never wavered.
“The basketball just went in. I don’t really overthink it, it is what it is. You go out there, and I play as hard as possible. Shots don’t fall, I’m still impacting winning,” Adebayo said.
“Everybody is not going to have a great game every game. It is what it is,” he added. “For me, it’s not losing confidence in who I am. It’s not overthinking the game too much because then you’ll start making other mistakes. It’s one of those things where I’m just missing shots. I don’t really look at it anymore than that.”
