Miami Heat fans have been treated to an incredible four years. While the team failed to win any championships over the past five seasons, they’ve had the privilege of seeing the team flourish as gritty underdogs who can compete with the best of them.
One of the biggest reasons for their success is Jimmy Butler. The two-way star is the heart and soul of the Heat, and it’s no exaggeration to say that all of their success can be put squarely on his shoulders.

However, rumors of a potential blockbuster trade with Butler being one of the central pieces caused discord within the Heat organization. It’s gone to the point that Playoff Jimmy won’t sign a contract extension with the team any time soon.
Another factor that helped the Miami Heat compete despite the lack of a solid core of stars is their knack for finding high-value role players. Be it through the draft or free agency, Pat Riley and the Miami front office finds the perfect players they need to keep the well-oiled Miami machine running.
However, one unfortunate part of this uncanny ability is how their players are always swiped by rival teams in the offseason. The latest role player from the Miami Heat to move on to greener pastures is Delon Wright.
Delon Wright signs with the Milwaukee Bucks after a solid season with the Miami Heat

According to Wes Goldberg of AllUCanHeat.com, Wright is set to move to the Bucks after signing a one-year deal worth $3.3 million. Wright, whose brother Dorell played for the Heat and has a family connection in the organization, made the surprising move after many expected him to return next season.
Goldberg then emphasized the giant hole Wright’s departure leaves at the point guard position:
With Wright agreeing to a contract with the Bucks, the Heat have just one point guard under contract, Terry Rozier. Other guards like Tyler Herro, Duncan Robinson and Josh Richardson have dabbled with playmaking duties and will have the ball in their hands next season, but more depth at the position is needed.
Wright didn’t have the most impressive stint in Miami, finishing the 2023-24 season with 4.5 points, 1.8 rebounds, and 2.5 assists a game. However, he was a valuable option at point as he offers decent coverage at the position.

With Wright now out of South Beach, the Heat will have to find his replacement in free agency or through trade. But if there’s anything to consider with Riley and the Miami Heat, they’ll find the next diamond in the rough within the next couple of weeks.
