It was not exactly a star-laden rematch between two teams that met in the 2024 NBA Playoffs, the Miami Heat would take a win any way they can against the Boston Celtics. On Saturday, Jaime Jaquez Jr. and the Heat took down the Celtics in an NBA Summer League game in Las Vegas.
Jaquez led the attack for the Heat. He just looked too goo against Summer League competition, as the former UCLA Bruins star recorded 29 points on 10/18 shooting from the floor, 11 rebounds, and five assists in 31 minutes of work.
Jaquez looks serious in his preparation for the 2024-25 NBA season. He could have just been vacationing somewhere else but he is instead in Las Vegas doing work.
During his first season in the league, Jaquez, taken 18th overall in the first round of the 2023 NBA Draft by the Heat, averaged 22.9 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 2.6 assists per game.
Jaquez and the Heat will look to keep it going on Monday against the Oklahoma City Thunder. After that will play the Dallas Mavericks and the Toronto Raptors on July 16 and 19, respectively.
