The Miami Heat are planning to suspend Jimmy Butler again for two games, sources tell ESPN. He missed a team flight Wednesday and had plans to join the Heat for tonight. Now Miami is keeping him home from its two-game road trip (via Shams Charania).
Shams Charania also reported that Butler has “tripled down” on his trade request, and teams are definitely calling. Butler also wore a pair of sneakers that featured the Phoenix Suns colors, which is a sign of his willingness to leave Miami.
Butler has been the hottest name in the trade market, and talks have heated up. The Suns are the number one candidate to land the six-time All-Star, and Bradley Beal with first-round picks will likely be the assets to get dealt.
He had already been suspended for seven games in the beginning of January, and a second suspension is screaming an incoming trade.
This isn’t the first time Butler has forced his way out of a team. Famously, his departure from the Minnesota Timberwolves was something that people will never forget.
Butler isn’t afraid to say how he feels. This suspension announcement also explained that Miami was open to listening to trade offers.
Jimmy Butler himself said he didn’t believe he would find his “joy” on the basketball court if he remained with the Heat, and he might be getting his wish soon enough.
