The Miami Heat’s Summer League roster had a fantastic run in the tournament. While they had to face a strong Memphis Grizzlies squad in the championship game, they pulled off an overtime winner and emerged as champions of the entire competition.
The Heat’s phenomenal performance in the Summer League had the players who made the most impact on the roster on notice. One player who stood out in the championship roster is getting plenty of attention from teams that need depth in their rosters.
However, the focus of Erik Spoelstra and the front office is how their 2024 Draft picks have fared so far. Kel’el Ware is arguably the most important player on the Heat’s Summer League roster, and they were hoping that he would put on a strong shift to show that he’s a cut above the rest of the players trying to get into the league.
It seems that Pat Riley and the Miami front office found another gem as he got recognized for his on-court impact during the tournament.
Miami Heat rookie Kel’el Ware named into All-Summer League First Team
The former Indiana standout had a phenomenal Summer League as he was one of the most productive players on the court. His performance merited him entry to the All-Summar League First Team.
247sports’ Jared Kelly covered Ware’s performance which propelled him to be recognized as one of the most outstanding players in the competition:
Across five games in the Summer League, Ware averaged 17.4 points, 8.0 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game while shooting 58.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent from 3-point range and 66.7 percent at the free throw line. Among players with at least four games played in the Summer League, Ware ranked tied for 12th in points per game, 13th in rebounds and blocks per game and 30th in field-goal percentage.
If Ware can translate his Summer League performance into the league by just a tiny bit, there’s no question that he can become one of the most exciting young players in this year’s draft class.
