Earlier in the 2024-25 NBA season, the Miami Heat unveiled one of their best projects dedicated to their greatest franchise star, Dwyane Wade. The organization finished the statue of Wade and revealed it to the public on their third game of the year. Unfortunately for the former star and the Heat, fans vocalized their opinion of the statue, with many saying it didn’t resemble the 6-foot-4 guard.
Even with the backlash against the statue, Wade defended the art until the attention faded. The topic about his statue was brought back to light on Tuesday’s episode of “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” when the three-time All-Star appeared as a guest.

It started when the host, Jimmy Fallon, talked about how he received the honor of getting a statue. However, the results caused a few people to talk about the appearance.
“That’s what they do, they talk,” Wade said (1:09). “But people ain’t got a statue, Jimmy. I only listen to people with statues. If you don’t have a statue…
Later on, he talked about what it meant to have a sculpture made in his likeness.
“It’s so surreal… To be able to — in my career, be able to walk away with a statue outside the arena, it means everything. ‘Cause I put everything I had into the game of basketball, on and off the court. And for the Miami Heat to honor me in that way, it’s just special.
“Social media tried to take my moment away from me. And I get all the jokes, I’m in on all the jokes… that was a huge moment for my family and I. It’s dope.”
Dwyane Wade revealed he was “scared” during his cancer journey

Dwyane Wade appeared on a recent episode of “Today with Jenna & Friends.” There, he talked about his journey with the health scare he experienced with cancer.
“I just started to be like, okay, well this is probably a part of my genetics and my history, let me go get checked out. When I turned 40, I went into the doctor and I was like, ‘Listen, I want to know everything.’ And in the midst of that, I was like, ‘Here are a few things that I’ve been feeling,'” Wade said.
According to Wade, he underwent a partial nephrectomy to remove a cyst-tumor from his right kidney. The former Heat star revealed to the public for the first time in January. At first, he kept it a secret from the public, only allowing his family and close friends to be aware of his health.
