Actor Michael B. Jordan once again drew a funny comparison to Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, as one NBA insider praised the actor’s performance in his new film, “Sinners.”
In one of the recent episodes of “The r/BillSimmons Podcast,” NBA insider Ryan Russillo praised the performance of actor Michael B. Jordan in his new movie, while drawing a comparison to the NBA legend with whom he shares the same name.
“It [the movie] was just so original and so cool…I think that’s the best Jordan performance ever. I don’t want to spoil it,” Simmons said.
“Better than Jazz finals?” Russillo quickly responded.

Rusillo was referring to the 1998 Championship game of the Chicago Bulls against the Utah Jazz. Michael Jordan led the Chicago Bulls to their sixth NBA championship in 1998 by defeating the Utah Jazz in Game 6, sealing the victory with his iconic last-second jump shot over Bryon Russell to secure an 87-86 win.
“Like a B. Jordan. His best performance ever,” Simmons answered.
Michael B. Jordan is not related to the Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan, despite sharing a similar name.

Michael B. Jordan, the actor, was named after his father, Michael A. Jordan, and has spoken about how he was often teased for having the same name as the basketball legend. While their careers have taken them to great heights in their respective fields, their connection is purely coincidental.
Michael B. Jordan Credits Chadwick Boseman for Performance Inspiration
Michael B. Jordan has openly credited the late Chadwick Boseman for influencing his performance in “Sinners,” the latest film directed by Ryan Coogler. Jordan, who plays identical twin brothers in the supernatural thriller, reflected on how Boseman’s dedication to embodying his characters shaped his own approach.

During early camera tests, Coogler reminded Jordan of how Boseman fully immersed himself in the role of T’Challa in “Black Panther,” which inspired Jordan to adopt a similar mindset for “Sinners.”
“I remember we were doing a camera test early on, when I was still finding my way into the characters, and Coog reminded me of what Chad did with T’Challa [in Black Panther] — how he really leaned into that character and embodied him throughout the shoot,” said Jordan. “I said, ‘Say no more,’ and from then on, the performance was done in that light.”
“Sinners,” starring Michael B. Jordan, has had a strong box office performance, earning $48 million domestically and $63.5 million globally.
