The Boston Celtics have a huge target on their backs as the defending champions next season. The New York Knicks and the Philadelphia 76ers are poised to challenge them after revamping their rosters this summer, but Bill Simmons is more worried about the Milwaukee Bucks.
“I’m the most worried about the Bucks in the East,” said Simmons on his podcast. “The Bucks are the scariest team to me; I’m not that worried about Philly; two of their top three are injury-potential guys, and they’re throwing a whole bunch of dudes together. I still have some questions about Paul George in Philly and how that’s going to play out over an eight-month span.”
“The Knicks, there’s going to be some weird minute stuff with them bringing Randle back, with who’s going to finish games, they don’t have enough size, they’re really going to miss Hartenstein and are they going to get the same healthy season from Brunson. Then you have Milwaukee, which is going to be stable; you have Doc adding his coaching staff like Mazzulla did over last summer.”
Many would think Bill Simmons said this because of his friendship with Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, but this is not the case since they’ve been one of the proactive teams this offseason.
Milwaukee Bucks’ 2024 offseason so far
The Milwaukee Bucks strengthened their bench this summer with the additions of Taurean Prince, Delon Wright, and Gary Trent Jr., with the latter doing the Milwaukee Bucks a huge favor by taking a pay cut.
Malik Beasley left for the Detroit Pistons, while Patrick Beverley is leaving the NBA to sign a “historic deal” with Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Israeli Basketball League.
If the trio of Damian Lillard, Khris Middleton, and Giannis Antetokounmpo stays healthy throughout the next season, the Milwaukee Bucks should be up there to contend in the Eastern Conference.
