A former Milwaukee Bucks player recently found himself in the midst of a social media scandal.
In a video that has circulated online, Larry Sanders was seen apologizing to his son’s mother, Holli J, who accuses him of physically assaulting her. The social media influencer was behind the camera, recording Sanders as he frustratingly tried to apologize, saying he just fell.
Holli J originally uploaded the clip on Instagram where it first spread, and then later deleted it from the platform. Several news outlets, including Hollywood Unlocked, got hold of the clip before it was deleted from Holli J’s social media. In the now-deleted original, she said that she will upload more videos if she didn’t get her son back by Monday. She would then proceed to share posts from her social circle showing support for her.
The post shared by Hollywood Unlocked has reached over 13,000 likes on Instagram as of this writing. Sanders has yet to issue any statement about the video.
Sanders was the 15th overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks in the 2010 NBA Draft, signing a multi-year deal, rookie-scale contract with the franchise on July 8, 2010. He was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA D-League on February 20, 2011, before being recalled by the Milwaukee Bucks five days later.
He recorded his only career triple-double on November 30, 2012, tallying 10 points, 12 rebounds, and 10 blocks in a losing effort when they fell to the Minnesota Timberwolves. His run with the Milwaukee Bucks was marred with injury and controversy, and after a second suspension for illegal marijuana use, the Bucks bought out his contract on February 21, 2015.
Sanders would return to the NBA in 2017, signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers and playing five games until he was waived a month later. Then in 2019, he had a stint playing with 3 Headed Monsters of Ice Cube’s BIG3.
Former Milwaukee Bucks center to play in Taiwan
Larry Sanders signed with the Taiwan Professional Basketball League on Monday, August 19. The former Milwaukee Bucks center/forward will suit up for the Taoyuan Taiwan Beer Yongfeng Clouded Leopards.
The Clouded Leopards’ Chief Operating Officer Yan Xingshu revealed that they want to create a twin-tower combination, pairing Sanders with Devin Williams to form a formidable defense in the penalty area.
Sanders, who comes to Taiwan for the first time in his career, was reported to be very happy to be a part of the Clouded Leopards, and looks forward to winning a championship with his new team.
