The Minnesota Timberwolves was beaten by the Boston Celtics in their latest game, with a final score of 115-118. While it may be a close game when glancing at the numbers, sports analyst Charles Barkley believes this is a further manifestation of their decision last year to break off the duo of Anthony Edwards and Karl-Anthony Towns, after trading the latter to the New York Knicks.
In the edition of “Inside the NBA” Wolves-Celtics game, Barkley talked about what he think happened with the Wolves, particularly after they gave up Towns and broke up the ANT-KAT bond.
When talking about the difference of how the Minnesota Timberwolves are looking right now versus how they looked last season, Barkley had a way to describe the difference. He said: “Night and day because they really miss KAT,” he said. “KAT’s on fire right now.”
“I actually think Anthony Edwards has regressed”

Towns’, so far this season, is averaging 24.9 points per game, 13.7 rebounds, shoots 54.8% from the field, and 45.9% from beyond the arc.
“They really miss KAT,” Barkley continued. “When Rudy Gobert’s in the game, they’re playing 5 on 4, because Rudy’s not scoring. They really have screwed up Naz Reid. He’s not getting any shots at all, because, Julius Randle is a good player, but he’s so ball dominant.”
Barkley also took a jab at Anthony Edwards, who he described as having “regressed” this season. When asked why, the analyst blamed it on “too many threes.” Co-host Shaquille O’Neal chimed in in agreement, saying, “way too many threes.”
During their game against the Celtics, Anthony Edwards scored 15 points, did 4 rebounds, and 6 assists.
ANT on Minnesota Timberwolves Trading KAT: “I Was Hurt”
Minnesota Timberwolves shooting guard Anthony Edwards, during the break out of the news that teammate Karl-Anthony Towns was traded off to the New York Knicks, expressed his honest emotion over the news.
“I think everybody knows KAT my brother so that definitely hurt,” Edwards said back then. Still, he went on to acknowledge the reality of the industry they are in and expressed his willingness to adapt to his new teammates.
“KAT my brother so that definitely hurt. … It wasn’t like a one or two situation, we both was the one.”

“It’s a business,” he continued. “I just gotta roll with it. I’m ready to get to know them [Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo] and try to get it figured out as fast as we can because we trying to get back to where we was and go even farther.”
So far this season, the Minnesota Timberwolves stand 10th in the Western Conference, with a record of 17-16.
