NBA legend Paul Pierce issued a public apology to Anthony Edwards after the latter helped the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminate the Los Angeles Lakers in five games in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs.

The Minnesota Timberwolves were the underdogs heading into the series since they were the sixth seed. Pierce was one of the pundits who picked the Los Angeles Lakers to advance to the second round. After the series, Edwards admitted he heard about the comments, but Pierce’s take “turned him up.”
“Ant-Man, my bad, bro. I knew you was a dog, I didn’t know you was a dog dog. I didn’t think you were going to go at Bron like that,” Pierce said on Instagram.

“I thought you was going to be having a little bit more respect and it was going to be cool because y’all was in the Olympics and everything. But I see you. You from the old school.”
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Stephen A. Smith sends message to Anthony Edwards after first-round win
Anthony Edwards has been floated as the next face of the NBA for quite some time, and leading the Minnesota Timberwolves past the Los Angeles Lakers will help his case. But, in Stephen A. Smith’s eyes, the 23-year-old swingman still has a lot to prove in the postseason.

“It’s not Ant Edwards’ league until he wins the West,” the ESPN analyst said on First Take. “He doesn’t necessarily have to win the championship. He gotta win the West.”
The Minnesota Timberwolves have a few more days to recharge their batteries as they await the winner of the Houston Rockets -Golden State Warriors series.
