The Minnesota Timberwolves will be exciting to watch when the playoffs begin in earnest. While they’re currently poised to make the play-in tournament, any squad with Anthony Edwards in it has a great chance of making a decent postseason run.
While the superstar guard has been dealing with huge problems off the court, the 23-year-old is playing some of the best basketball of his career. He’s averaging big numbers and will be a favorite to finish the season with an All-NBA recognition.

However, Edwards explains that there’s more to the team than just him. While he has a collection of terrific teammates to help him win games, one player in particular inspires him to play better for the Wolves.
Anthony Edwards credits Mike Conley’s durability as an inspiration to play better for the Minnesota Timberwolves

The Wolves didn’t have the easiest game against the Philadelphia 76ers. While the team is categorically out of postseason contention, the 114-109 final score showcased a close game that had Edwards pull off an incredible 37-point night while being deadly efficient from deep.
While he’s the biggest reason why Minnesota won the game, Ant-Man is very generous with the praise he gave Conley. He praises the veteran’s toughness as a noteworthy quality to the Timberwolves roster.
Per Athlon Sports Cholo Martin Magsino:
“He’s been dealing with that thing with his shooting hand, it’s been tough for him throughout the year. But, Mike is a warrior, man,” Edwards said in his post-game interview. “Every game, I come in, if I get hurt prior to that game, I come by hurting or something like that. I see Mike he has his outfit on getting ready to play. I always say to myself, ‘Ain’t nothing wrong with me.’ Because he’s 37, and he still plays the game like it’s the first time he’s playing it.”
Conley is far from his peak with the Grit and Grind Grizzlies, but he remains a key part of Chris Finch’s rotation. The 37-year-old guard is averaging 8.5 points, 2.5 rebounds, 4.5 assists, and 1.1 steals through 60 starts.

While he’s no longer the superstar point guard that could have helped take the pressure off Edwards, he’s teaching important off-court values that will help him thrive in the NBA long after he calls it a career.
