Anthony Edwards earned a new moniker after helping the Minnesota Timberwolves eliminate the Los Angeles Lakers in the first round of the 2025 NBA playoffs in five games.

Edwards defeated an all-time NBA great in the first round for the second straight year. Last season, it was Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns in a sweep, and this time, it was LeBron James and the Los Angeles Lakers.
Before Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals, the Minnesota Timberwolves guard received a huge shoutout from 14-time WWE Champion Randy Orton, who posted a picture of the duo with Edwards being handed the chain of “Legend Killer.”

Edwards has the unique opportunity to send another NBA great home, as the Minnesota Timberwolves face Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors in the next round.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards draws praise from Stephen Curry ahead of Game 1
Golden State Warriors guard Stephen Curry praised Anthony Edwards’ growth, calling the Minnesota Timberwolves swingman a “tough challenge” ahead of Game 1.

“I watched a little bit of their first round series. He’s playing with supreme confidence. We know they had their run last year, they’re a new look with (Julius) Randle, but same Ant who’s trying to take strides with every opportunity he gets. It’s gonna be a tough challenge, we know,” Curry said about Edwards via SI’s Eva Geitheim.
“We’ll have to send multiple bodies at him and figure out a gameplan to go at him. They’re hot right now, they’ve been playing some great basketball the last couple months. We’re excited that we have an opportunity to have some more basketball to play too,” he added.
