The Minnesota Timberwolves have been stumped out of the playoffs after the season has ended poorly for them. They’re currently three games down against the Dallas Mavericks, and a sweep seems imminent for a team that’s only emerged as a serious title contender this season.
However, not everything is gloomy in the Minnesota locker room since they have Anthony Edwards raring to prove his doubters wrong. The star guard may have been stifled the past couple of games, but not even the Mavericks can deny that he’s a phenomenal player who can wreak havoc if left alone on the court.
As the Timberwolves look for ways to extend the series, one of the team’s most important players decided to hype his teammate ahead of their win-or-go-home duel against the Mavericks.
Rudy Gobert compares Anthony Edwards to Dwyane Wade as the Minnesota Timberwolves prepare for Game 4
Rudy Gobert talked with the media ahead of a pivotal Game 4 that could end their season earlier than they would like.
While he addressed various questions, he didn’t spare any hyperbole to praise Edwards. He even compared him to Miami Heat legend Dwyane Wade during his incredible push against the Mavs in 2006:

“We’ve got Ant, who’s 22, and Dwyane Wade won a championship at that age. (Wade) was the guy, but he was surrounded by some other veterans who helped him grow. I think that’s the way I feel about our team. Ant is not in his… pic.twitter.com/r1wSXDS0Qw

It may seem like an exaggeration to compare Ant-Man to a player of Wade’s caliber, but he’s already shown that he can pull such a feat off. In this postseason alone, he’s averaged 27.4 points, 6.6 rebounds, 6.4 assists, and 1.6 steals on 48% shooting and 38.5% from deep.
While the Dallas Mavericks seemingly have his number, one good game is all he needs to swing the momentum back in Minnesota’s favor. He’s shown it against the Denver Nuggets, so there’s no reason to doubt his ability to put the Timberwolves back in the conversation.
