Just when the Timberwolves thought they had their mojo back, bad habits appeared to continue holding them back. The Timberwolves won six out of their last seven games before dropping two in a row to teams they feel they are better than. Some questionable calls by the referees were the focal point of yesterday’s 113-103 loss to the Golden State Warriors. This is their second loss in three games to the Warriors this season.
Timberwolves shooting guard, Anthony Edwards, decided to share a few choice words regarding the officiating during the game that was caught in the video posted below. He carefully pointed out that his ire was directed only towards the male officials, “All of them besides the woman.” We have yet to see how this will impact the Timberwolves heading into their next game, but you can anticipate a heavy fine for Edwards’ public remarks in the locker room after the game.
ANT: “F**** terrible. All of them besides the woman…I said one thing & he gave me a tech. MF told one of my teammates if I would have said, “y’all calling a bad foul,” he wouldn’t have gave me a tech. N**** sensitive & terrible”

Timberwolves bad defense and turnovers haunt them again
Over the last 11 games, the Timberwolves were only letting up 95.6 PPG, good for first in the league. But in the past two games, they have given up 133 points to the Knicks and 113 to the Warriors. The Timberwolves had some late turnovers that contributed to a bunch of Warriors scoring plays. Anthony Edwards had 11 of his team-high 19 points in the 4th quarter. Steph Curry and the Warriors simply outshot them, going 16-42 from the 3-point line.
Steph Curry had 31 points and 10 assists to pace the Warriors. He hit seven threes in this game including three big ones when it counted in the fourth quarter. Trayce Jackson-Davis also chipped in with a nice game adding 15 points, went 7-8 shooting, and had 9 rebounds.
The Warriors had three bench scorers in double figures, Brandin Podziemski with 12 points, Buddy Hield with 11 points, and Jonathan Kuminga with 11 points. The Warriors are currently in the 7th seed with a record of 15-12 in the Western Conference. The Warriors will play at home versus the Indiana Pacers on Monday night at The Chase Center.
Timberwolves road ahead
This loss drops the Timberwolves to 14-13 overall, landing them 10th place in the Western Conference standings. They have lost two straight home games at Target Center, making it three of their last five games. The Timberwolves will travel to Atlanta to play the Hawks on Monday, December 23, 2024. The Hawks have lost three straight games with an overall record of 14-15.
Deandre Hunter is having one of the best seasons of his career. Hunter is averaging 20.1 PPG, shooting a very impressive 44.1% from three-point range and 88% from the free-throw line. All three of those stats represent career highs for Hunter. Another good thing the Hawks have going this year is a top 10 scoring offense averaging 116.4 PPG. Though they might have to do it without two of their leading scorers. Trey Young is questionable with a heel injury and Bogdan Bogdanovic is questionable with a lower leg injury.
Both teams will look to get back on track. The scheduled start time is at 6:30 p.m. Central.
