At this point in his career, Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards is already turning heads because of his impressive development. For D’Angelo Russell, though, there’s still one area of his game that can be improved for the All-Star guard to truly ascend to the next level.
Edwards has quickly emerged as one of the NBA’s most captivating young stars with the Minnesota Timberwolves. The 22-year-old is already one of the league’s elite two-way players, showcasing an explosiveness and confidence that has him on the cusp of superstardom.
The All-Star guard has improved various facets of his game each season, with his free throw percentage, efficiency, and playmaking all taking major leaps this year. In the Timberwolves’ first-round playoff series against the Phoenix Suns, he set new career highs across the board, proving he’s no longer just knocking on the door – he’s paying the mortgage.
Despite his young age, he has carried himself with a familiar coolness and supreme confidence that is endearing rather than off-putting. He’s accepted the responsibility that comes with being a rising face of the NBA and has risen up to the challenge so far.
The next several months could be transformative for Edwards, who faced a Western Conference Finals clash with the Dallas Mavericks during the playoffs, then the Olympics, and the NBA’s looming media rights deal. His life has changed dramatically in a short time, and the basketball world is eager to see just how high his superstar trajectory can climb.
The One Area Minnesota Timberwolves’ Anthony Edwards Can Improve On According to D’Angelo Russell
There’s no denying how great Edwards’ game has been for the past few years. In an Instagram post by SportsCenter, D’Angelo Russell pointed out one area he could improve more.

Last season, Edwards averaged 25.9 points on 35 percent shooting from deep, 5.4 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 1.3 steals throughout 79 games. If he manages to make more dimes, that will elevate the guard’s game and transform him into a more effective player on offense.
It remains to be seen whether Edwards can improve this facet of his game in the upcoming season. With the Olympics going on, there’s no reason he won’t be able to learn from his All-Star teammates and established legends in the league. If he does, though, expect the Timberwolves to surpass what they achieved in the playoffs earlier this year with Edwards leading them.
