The Western Conference Finals is set. The Minnesota Timberwolves will take on the Dallas Mavericks in what should be a compelling series between two sides with championship aspirations this season.
Naturally, the mouthwatering individual matchup between Anthony Edwards and Luka Doncic has already taken center stage. As it turns out, however, Edwards and the Wolves have other plans.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Anthony Edwards Sounds Off on Kyrie Irving Matchup
Apparently, it’s not going to be an Edwards vs. Doncic boxing match. According to the Timberwolves superstar himself, his opponent for this series is going to be against Kyrie Irving:
“My matchup going to be Kyrie,” Edwards said (h/t Legion Hoops on X, formerly Twitter) “… We’re going to see what I can do vs. him.”
Edwards is wasting no time sounding out this upcoming series. The 22-year-old already has his sights set on what he believes will be a captivating matchup against one of the best ball-handlers in the history of the game in Kyrie.
Knowing Irving, there’s no way the veteran is going to back away from this challenge either.
Game 1 of this series is scheduled for Wednesday night. Minnesota has home-court advantage in the series which means that they will be hosting Games 1 and 2 at the Target Center.
Grab your popcorn, folks. This is going to be one heck of a series.
