Anthony Edwards did all he could for the Minnesota Timberwolves. On Thursday night, the young superstar finished with a team-high 28 points on 10-of-18 shooting, to go along with nine rebounds, six assists, a steal, a block, and four triples in 43 minutes of action.
In the end, it still wasn’t enough as the Wolves suffered a season-ending 124-103 blowout loss at home against the Dallas Mavericks.
Minnesota Timberwolves: Anthony Edwards Reacts to Game 5 Loss
Edwards was uncharacteristically at a loss for words as he faced reporters after their Game 5 loss. When asked to share his thoughts on everything his team has achieved this season and how it all came crashing down in the Western Conference Finals, the two-time All-Star responded curtly:
“We’ll be back next year,” he said.

You can feel the utter disappointment in Edwards’ voice and the way he answered the questions. However, it is clear that his confidence remains unmoved. This young man is adamant that this is anything but a fluke for the Timberwolves and that they will be back with a vengeance next season.
For now, however, Edwards and the Wolves will need to soak up all the heartbreak. They will need to remember how much this hurts and use it as motivation to work as hard as they can to not be in this same position again.
