The Minnesota Timberwolves must have moved heaven and earth to win Game 7 win against the Denver Nuggets and advance to the Conference Finals. But for NBA legend Magic Johnson, though, there’s one good reason why the Anthony Edwards-led team came out better on the court recently.
Just recently, the Minnesota Timberwolves forced a Game 7 against Nikola Jokic and the Nuggets. In that contest, the former went home with 98-90 win over Denver to advance to the Conference Finals. Jaden McDaniels and Karl-Anthony Towns combined for 46 points with the former number one pick grabbing 12 rebounds along the way. Edwards posted 16 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists, while Rudy Gobert added 13 points and nine assists.

For his part, Denver’s starting point guard notched 35 points to lead his team. Nikola Jokic tallied a monster performance of 34 points, 19 rebounds, and seven assists in 46 minutes on the court. Unfortunately, the rest of their teammates only scored 21 points for the entirety of the series-deciding game.
Minnesota’s win marked the franchise’s return to the Conference Finals since Kevin Garnett led the team in 2004. The loss, on the other hand, marked a disappointing finish for the Nuggets since they won’t be defending their titles in the Finals anymore.
NBA Legend Magic Johnson Revealed Reason Why Minnesota Timberwolves Won Game 7 Against Denver Nuggets

After the match, various personalities gave their take on how the Timberwolves won over the defending champions. Among those who shared their thoughts is Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson in a tweet he recently posted on X.
“Defense, defense, and more defense won the game for the Timberwolves. WOW! What a game! Six guys finished with double figure scoring led by Karl Anthony-Townes and Jaden McDaniels, each finished with 23 points and KAT added 12 rebounds!” Johnson tweeted.
While the duo of Jokic and Murrayr had their way on the court, Minnesota was wise in focusing their defense on everybody else. Along with how Edwards was able to create plays for his teammates without the need to score that much, the Wolves ended up as the victors over Denver.

Minnesota will soon face Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks in the Western Conference Finals. If they keep their intensity on the defensive end, this series will be a must-watch for NBA fans.
