Minnesota Timberwolves big man Rudy Gobert has been on the receiving end of A LOT of criticism throughout the NBA Playoffs. To a certain extent, you have to say that all the negativity that has been thrown in the direction of the four-time Defensive Player of the Year has been somewhat warranted.
Gobert’s role — or rather, the lack thereof — in the Western Conference Finals against the Dallas Mavericks is a big reason behind the fact that the Wolves are currently down 3-1 in the series. If Minnesota gets eliminated in Game 5 on Thursday then you can be sure that the Gobert slander is only going to get louder.
Minnesota Timberwolves News: Kevin Garnett Proposed Rudy Gobert Trade
All this talk surrounding Gobert has reached such extreme lengths that folks are already discussing the Wolves potentially parting ways with the 7-foot-1 center this summer. So much so, that even Minnesota legend Kevin Garnett agrees with the notion of trading away Gobert in the offseason, especially if it comes down to a choice between Gobert and Karl-Anthony Towns:
“I’m trading Rudy before I’m trading KAT,” Garnett said on a recent episode of the All the Smoke podcast. “… You don’t know what you can get. S**t. I may only need a bag of chips. I might not need too much.”
With the way Naz Reid is playing, the Timberwolves may have to reevaluate their frontcourt in the offseason.

The show’s two hosts, Stephen Jackson and Matt Barnes, argued that the Wolves could potentially get more value out of Towns in a blockbuster trade deal. Garnett countered that notion by suggesting that Minnesota might not need to bring in a star and that whatever they can get on the market for Gobert could be enough.
Either way, what you can say for sure is that KG isn’t a very big Gobert fan at the moment.
