While Anthony Edwards is the man for the Minnesota Timberwolves, it’s hard to argue that he’s the main guy on such a stacked 12-man roster.
It’s refreshing to see the young superstar assert his confidence when he’s playing with the likes of LeBron James and Stephen Curry. Still, almost everyone can agree that the outspoken guard may find it hard to break into the starting lineup when he’s competing with Devin Booker and Jayson Tatum among other superb players for minutes.

Of course, there’s more to basketball than just being cocky and taking responsibility for the last shot. It’s still a team game, and chemistry is important in ensuring Team USA’s success in Paris when they’re facing tough opposition.
However, he did make one admission about one teammate that would make others raise their eyebrows.
Anthony Edwards says Kevin Durant is Team USA’s closer in late-game situations

Anthony Edwards fielded several questions during Team USA’s media availability. While the two-time All-Star fielded multiple questions from the media, his answer about who will take over for Team USA in clutch situations is surprising yet wholesome.
Per Fadeaway World’s Aaditya Krishnamurthy:
“I think Kevin Durant. He better be. That’s who I came to see… We been talkin’ the whole time. It’s dope.”
It’s not weird to imagine the Slim Reaper being the go-to guy for the Stars and Stripes. He’s built a career out of making big-time shots, be it on the NBA or international stage.
Moreover, the 35-year-old had a fantastic 2023-24 season. The Phoenix Suns forward averaged 27.1 points, 6.6 rebounds, and 5.0 assists on 52.3% FG and 41.3% 3FG. He’s a deadly scorer who can burn defenses with his deep bag of offensive moves.
If there’s anything fans will find strange with the praise, it’s how the two just had a fierce contest in the postseason. His Timberwolves sent the Suns home in four straight games, and he had some choice words for the forward.
However, it’s important to note that the NBA is different from Team USA, and fans can count on the two to work together to bring home the gold medal.
Will the Minnesota Timberwolves star have a strong performance at the Olympics?

Anthony Edwards will struggle for minutes since he’s sharing the floor with an impressive number of superstars. However, his performance in last year’s FIBA World Cup shows that he’s more than capable to take over games if needed.
The 6’4″ guard averaged 18.9 points, 4.6 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.1 steals in the tournament, shooting for 47.5% and 31.1% from deep.
As long as Anthony Edwards isn’t dealing with any nagging injuries, it’s hard to imagine the guard not playing well in Paris.
