There are plenty of narratives fans can get with the NBA’s decision to pair up with Amazon for their broadcasting needs. Charles Barkley’s public takes on the split between the league and his home network, specifically on the fate of Inside the NBA, have given fans plenty of materials to gossip about.
In light of the league’s decision to move on from TNT, Barkley announced earlier this year that the coming 2024-25 season would be his last as a broadcast personality. His decision broke the hearts of basketball fans all over, but they understood where he was coming from.
However, the Hall of Fame forward for the Philadelphia 76ers and Phoenix Suns did some thinking over the summer and made a huge decision on his career.
Fans were more than happy with the decision he took.
Charles Barkley gets messages of support from NBA fans after signing an extension with TNT
Barkley has recently announced that he’s extending his stay with TNT by signing a three-year extension with the network. This announcement effectively erases doubts that Barkley would stop appearing on the public space.
While the fate of Barkley’s show with Shaquille O’Neal, Ernie Johnson, and Kenny Smith is still up in the air, fans are still happy they’ll get to see Barkley for longer.
Per The Spun’s Kameron Duncan:
“chuck doing nhl on tnt is going to be absolutely incredible,” one fan said.
“Can’t wait to see Charles go from March Madness to the NHL playoffs and Adam Silver sits there confused why NHL ratings passed the NBA,” said another fan.
“Charles is totally going to do NHL soon,” one fan predicted.
“Idc what it is! I’ll watch Charles! Great to see him stick around,” said one fan.
“This is probably the best basketball news we’ll get today,” another fan said.
With TNT losing the NBA next year, it’s still unclear what the network would do with Barkley and his cohosts at Inside. However, they can be assured that they will have Charles’ charismatic commentary for the foreseeable future.
