Trae Young continues to be the villain for the New York Knicks. On Wednesday, the Knicks hosted the Atlanta Hawks for the quarter-finals of the Emirates NBA Cup. Atlanta spoiled New York’s night as Young led the team to a 108-100 victory.
Ahead of their matchup, Young made it known that he wasn’t a fan of being a villain. However, in the eyes of New Yorkers, he’s currently the No. 1 villain in their quest to win a title.
Young had 22 points, five rebounds and 11 assists for the Hawks. However, he struggled shooting the basketball and only made 36.4% from the field and 25% from deep. Fortunately for the Hawks, Jalen Johnson came up big for Atlanta with his 21 points, 15 rebounds, seven assists, two steals and two blocks.
De’Andre Hunter, who scored 24 points off the bench, had a noteworthy night shooting the hoop. Hunter hit 80% of his long-range shots.
The two teams have played against each other twice this season following their NBA Cup game. Their first game against each other was on Nov, 6. The Hawks took over the Knicks with a 121-116 win. Trae Young had a 23-point, 10-assist double-double behind a 33% shooting from deep.
Young had a message for the Knicks supporters at the State Farm Arena following the game.
“I hope the New York fans find their way to the exit real, real quick,” Young taunted at the Knicks fans. “Take y’all a** home.”
