Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have been rumored and linked to multiple trade talks as of late. On Wednesday, ESPN’s Shams Charania reported about the Phoenix Suns being a prime destination for Butler, which the NBA star’s agent, Bernard Lee, called “fabricated.” However, Charania doubled down on his report and claimed the Heat star is interested in joining the Suns.
Aside from Charania, Suns insider John Gambadoro also talked about the potential of having Phoenix execute a trade for Butler. In the latest episode of “Burns and Gambo,” Gambadoro backed the claims made by the ESPN reporter.
“Shams Charania is not incorrect, despite what the agent says, despite what the Miami Heat may say. I always take a little bit of time making sure I get stories correct, because I don’t go out there with incorrect information: Jimmy Butler is absolutely interested in coming to the Phoenix Suns, if he were to be traded from the Miami Heat, the Phoenix Suns are very, very high on his list,” said Gambadoro.
“Yes. Jimmy Butler, if he is going to get traded from Miami, is interested in the Phoenix Suns. I would go as far as to say that I believe this will be his number one choice, is to come play for the Phoenix Suns. … I believe that he is very interested in the Phoenix Suns.”
In a recent episode of his show, the insider talked about Bradley Beal’s future with the Suns. According to Gambadoro, Beal could waive his no-trade clause and move on from Phoenix.
“I think Bradley Beal would waive his no-trade clause. I think if he got the chance to be more of the player he used to be he would take it.”
Jimmy Butler’s head coach had addressed playing through the NBA star amid the trade buzz
Jimmy Butler and the Miami Heat have three games in a row and look to extend it to four on Thursday against the Toronto Raptors. While the team is on a winning streak, talks about Butler’s future with the team lingers.
Ahead of their game against the Raptors, head coach Erik Spoelstra talked about the situation with Butler and the trade talk around him.
“This is this profession,” Spoelstra said. “Can’t get sick at sea over some narratives that are going out there. That’s going to happen to every organization at some point during the season. We’re trying to build on something. We’ve played three solid games, but we’re still not anywhere where we want to be.”
