The Philadelphia 76ers announced that Joel Embiid will miss the rest of the season due to a nagging knee injury that he’s had pretty much his whole career. Embiid finished his ninth NBA season with averages of 23.8 points, 8.2 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per contest while shooting 44.4% from the field and 29.9% from the three-point range in 19 games.

Following this news former NBA Legend Dwight Howard had this to say on his X account.
He wrote: “When the man tell you his situation listen 🤷🏾♂️Joel said he wasn’t going to play back to backs to prevent this now he out the whole season … yall forgot he missed 2 seasons before he was even a rookie?”
Many people commented on Howard’s post which had 45,000 impressions in ten hours.
@EVOParker: “Imagine if he miss all of next season.”
@reeeborntsuna: “I 100% understand your position but sports are brutal. Suppose Philly shut him down earlier and then this cycle repeated the next season again. As someone pointed out here, it never made sense for him to play the Olympics, it really set him back for the season.”
@CFpunk2K: “He’s outta shape, injured every other game and to make matters worse — he’s one of the least likable players in the entire NBA. Time to retire.”
The 76ers are in the 12th seed right now trailing the Chicago Bulls by three games for a chance at a play-in game. Now they are faced with harsh scrutiny from fans and the media. Once the postseason arrives they will have a lot of decisions to make regarding the current roster construction. Hopefully adding some young players off the bench that can speed up the pace would be huge for the 76ers, and if George and Embiid can stay healthy for a whole year, then the 76ers have a great shot at contending for a title, but for now, it will have to wait until next year.

Paul George puts podcasting on hold.
Paul George announced before the Embiid injury news that he was taking a break from his “Podcast P” to focus on making a playoff push and putting them in the best situation to win a title.
“It’s no secret this season is up to this point, man,” George said in the latest episode of his ‘Podcast P with Paul George’ podcast. “It hasn’t been what we envision…With that being said, though, I want to let the Podcast P family know that after today’s episode with Dwight (Howard), I plan to take a break from the pod to focus on getting my body right, getting mentally right and help this squad make a push towards our goal. To finish the season, I’ll give ourselves a chance to be in contention to compete for a championship.”
Unfortunately with the recent Joel Embiid news the 76er’s chances of competing for an NBA Championship, or contending for a top spot in the East is all but over. Without Embiid, the 76ers lack the high-end talent to compete with the New York Knicks, Cleveland Cavaliers, and the Boston Celtics. The 76ers do have Tyrese Maxey, along with George but it’s not enough to even stay afloat in the Eastern Conference as they have lost 9 games in a row and 11 out of 12 overall.
