It’s hard to imagine what life is like for Bronny James. Choosing to play basketball with your parent being one of the most electrifying basketball players ever to lace them up brings a different kind of pressure that other prospects in the 2024 NBA Draft don’t usually deal with.

Bronny sits at an interesting spot in his basketball career. While his college stats clearly state that he’s far from ready to enter the NBA, his physical gifts also make him one of the more exciting prospects in the draft. It also helps that his father is actually LeBron James.

While people can only assume what life with much an iconic baller of a father is like, Bronny gave fans a sneak peek to what his life growing up in the James household was actually like.

NBA fans may think that Bronny is actually having it easy compared to other prospects due to how influential his father is. However, he stated that life isn’t any easier with LeBron overshadowing every little thing you do.

He explained what it’s like playing basketball with a father like James, as reported by The Spun’s Matt Hladik:

“It’s tough. A lot of criticism gets thrown my way,” James said, candidly. “I gotta deal with it. They don’t know what I’ve been through. I just try to make the best of my opportunities that’s given to me.”

He also said that he wants to create a niche for his career that’s way beyond his father’s shadow:

“My dream has always just been to put my name out, make a name for myself, and, of course, get to the NBA,” Bronny told reporters recently. “Which is what everyone’s end goal is here. I’ve never thought about playing with my dad, but of course he’s brought it up a couple of times.”

That may be more than a pipe dream than anything because he’s literally named LeBron James Jr. Moreover, it doesn’t help that his stats in his lone year with the USC Trojans (4.8 points, 2.8 rebounds, 2.1 assists) don’t scream a viable NBA prospect.

Regardless of whether he uses his father’s influence or not, it’s clear that Bronny James has a tough battle ahead of him with his dreams of making an impact in the NBA. However, he can be sure that his dad will be there to support his decisions every step of the way.
