As usual, the Cleveland Cavaliers took care of business Tuesday night, as they came away with a 109-104 victory on the road over the Brooklyn Nets.
It wasn’t just an ordinary victory in a random early March regular-season game. It was the Cavs’ 55th triumph of the season and 15th in a row, matching the longest win streak of the franchise in history, which they did when they started the Kenny Atkinson era with that many victories in a row.
Also, it improved the Cavaliers’ chances of joining an extremely exclusive all-time club. With 17 games left to play in the regular season, Donovan Mitchell and the Cavs need to go at least 15-2 the rest of the way to reach the 70-win plateau.

In the history of the NBA, only two teams have won 70 games in a season: the 1996-96 Chicago Bulls of Michael Jordan that went 72-10 and the 2015-16 version of the Golden State Warriors, who set a new record with a 73-10 slate.

Jordan and the Bulls won the NBA title that season, while the Warriors had their incredible campaign wasted in a spectacular collapse in the 2016 NBA Finals versus LeBron James and the Cavaliers.
Can the Cleveland Cavaliers get to 70 wins?

Winning 15 games over the next 17 outings is still a tall order even for the Cavaliers, who can beat teams on any given night either with their high-powered and efficient offense or their suffocating defense.
Cleveland is tops in the league with a 121.8 offensive rating and seventh with a 110.9 defensive rating.
The Cavs still have to face the likes of the Los Angeles Clippers, Detroit Pistons, New York Knicks and the Indiana Pacers. Cleveland is also set to take on the Memphis Grizzlies on the road on Friday.
