In a few years, Cooper Flagg will soon enter the NBA in an attempt to become a star in his own right. But before that happens, Los Angeles Lakers’ LeBron James and Phoenix Suns’ Kevin Durant dropped some valuable advice for the young hooper.
Flagg has been turning heads at the Team USA training camp, putting on an impressive display against the NBA’s elite players. During scrimmages, the 6’8″ Flagg showcased his versatile skill set, calmly draining a 3-pointer over Lakers star Anthony Davis and then disrupting a transition play with his hustle and defense.
Flagg’s performance has the NBA scouting community buzzing, as his potential has them anticipating a “tankathon” among the league’s bottom-feeding franchises in the 2025 draft. Flagg’s ability to hold his own against seasoned NBA players has reinforced the hype surrounding his freshman season at Duke, where he is expected to make an immediate impact.
While no official statistics are being kept, Flagg’s impact was evident in the scrimmages, with his combination of perimeter shooting, defense, and effort standing out. This early glimpse of his talent has only heightened the anticipation for his collegiate debut and the possibility of him emerging as the top overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft. Flagg’s breakout performance at the Team USA camp has firmly established him as one of the most intriguing prospects in the upcoming class.
NBA Superstars LeBron James and Kevin Durant Gave Cooper Flagg Valuable NBA Advice
After that particular scrimmage, the buzz surrounding Flagg has grown exponentially. In a tweet by Ben Golliver on X, the projected top pick shared what several members of Team USA said to him.

Flagg was a consensus five-star recruit and one of the top high school players in the 2024 class. In his last year at Montverde Academy, the young star won multiple honors, including Gatorade National Player of the Year, Mr. Basketball USA, and Naismith Prep Player of the Year.
Without a doubt, Flagg’s star is getting brighter with each step he takes to becoming a pro. Add his recent performance against Team USA and sky is the limit for the projected top pick in the NBA down the line.
