Former NBA forward Stephen Jackson wants to see Devin Booker join the Detroit Pistons if he somehow leaves the Phoenix Suns anytime soon.

“I would love to see him go back,” Jackson said on the All the Smoke podcast. “I’d love to see him go back home. With the way they’re going, they’re start building, I think that would be a great piece to keep that organization going in the right direction. He’s home, that would be great for Booker.”
The Detroit Pistons are rising through the league this season, and Booker grew up in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Detroit has the draft capital to persuade Phoenix to move Booker if they choose to break up their current core for a full-scale rebuild.

The Detroit Pistons have already more than doubled their win total last season, with a 35-27 record, good for sixth in the Eastern Conference. They have won nine of their last 11.
Why the Detroit Pistons make sense for Devin Booker
Devin Booker is unlikely to leave the Phoenix Suns soon, despite their dire situation. But if he does, the Detroit Pistons make a ton of basketball sense for him.

Booker is one of the league’s most skilled scorers, averaging 25.2 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 6.6 assists on 45.5 percent shooting from the field across 55 starts this year.
Detroit has been rebuilding, but they’re ahead of schedule. Cade Cunningham has blossomed into an NBA All-Star. Ausar Thompson and Jalen Duren are coming into their own, and they have serviceable veterans Tobias Harris, Malik Beasley, and Tim Hardaway Jr. Head coach JB Bickerstaff also recently won the Eastern Conference Coach of the Month for February 2025.
