NBA news: Despite the fact that he hasn’t played in the NBA for two full seasons now, Dwight Howard remains a relevant figure among basketball fans. This speaks volumes of the legacy he’s left during his time in the league — one that appears to have officially come to an end now that he’s made a significant career move overseas.
NBA News: Dwight Howard Purchases Stake in Taiwan Pro League
Howard took to social media on Thursday to announce that he’s decided to become a part-owner of the professional basketball league in Taiwan or the SBL (Super Basketball Legaue). On top of that, the 38-year-old has also purchased a stake in one of the teams in the league, the Taiwan Mustangs:

Who you know play in a league that they OWN 😮💨 I am so blessed to have this opportunity we going to change the world ! It’s NBA playoffs too 😎 I’m sending my scouts all over & im doing heavy recruiting this summer! Forget going to Cancún C’MON over to The Asian Tournament &… pic.twitter.com/Hrog9KtNVa

As he said in his post, he will also be suiting up for the Mustangs this coming season as a player-owner. This only means that Howard has pretty much given up his dream to return to the NBA. After all, being a part-owner AND a player of a team means that he likely won’t get a chance to leave the country due to his busy schedule.
Howard also revealed that he has some big plans in store for the league. In fact, he’s already begun recruiting players from the NBA:
We gone make my league great like the NBA ! I’m recruiting as we speak 💪🏾 first stop The Asian Tournament! With the Taiwan Mustangs

Given Howard’s star power and influence, don’t be surprised if the SBL welcomes a host of ex-NBA players in the not-so-distant future.
