Even after his time playing in the league, Kendrick Perkins has continued to entertain fans as one of ESPN’s key NBA analysts. Just recently, though, the network resigned him to a contract extension that will see the former champion do his thing for years.
ESPN has announced multi-year extensions with key basketball commentators as the regular season approaches and amidst the excitement of the WNBA Finals. Chiney Ogwumike, who has notably balanced her roles as a full-time analyst and professional athlete, continues to expand her influence across various programs. She regularly contributes to broadcasts such as NBA Countdown, NBA Today, and WNBA Countdown, and has taken on hosting duties for NBA Today on select days.

Tim Legler, a seasoned analyst since 2000, will enhance his role by serving as a game analyst. Legler has been a consistent voice on the network, frequently appearing on SportsCenter and contributing to shows like Get Up.
Monica McNutt also secured a multi-year extension, further broadening her involvement in both professional basketball leagues. As a WNBA game analyst and studio contributor, she regularly appears on platforms like Get Up, First Take, and SportsCenter, in addition to her role as a sideline reporter for NBA games.
In addition to these extensions, the network recently welcomed Shams Charania as its new Senior Insider and announced the return of Michael C. Wright as the San Antonio Spurs reporter. These moves reflect their commitment to delivering comprehensive basketball coverage and enhancing viewer engagement as they gear up for the 2024-25 season.
ESPN Signs Former NBA Champion Kendrick Perkins to a Multi-Year Extension

Along with a number of personalities, the network has also signed Perkins to a multi-year contract extension, as seen in an article written by Alex Feuz.
“ESPN today announced it has reached multi-year extensions with several key basketball commentators ahead of the NBA regular season and amidst the WNBA Finals,” Feuz wrote.
“Kendrick Perkins has continued to expand his role and presence across ESPN platforms since joining in 2019. The former NBA Champion has become a fixture on ESPN NBA Countdown and he will now also appear on ABC editions of NBA Countdown throughout the season. Perkins is also an analyst on NBA Today and a frequent guest on Get Up, First Take, SportsCenter and Hoop Streams,” he added.
Perkins has signed a multi-year contract extension, solidifying his role amid significant layoffs within the company. Known for his impactful commentary on shows like First Take and NBA Countdown, Perkins will now expand his presence, joining the ABC NBA Countdown panel.

His engaging and often provocative insights have resonated with audiences, reflecting a shift in the company’s approach to basketball coverage. This decision underscores their commitment to enhancing its on-air talent as it navigates a challenging media landscape, ensuring Perkins remains a prominent voice in sports commentary.
