NBA news: Skip Bayless made headlines on Monday after it was reported that the veteran sports analyst is set to leave his FS1 show Undisputed this summer. It was a shocking revelation that took the broadcasting world by surprise, to say the least.
Some fans were quick to point out that ESPN should consider hiring Bayless to potentially host alongside Stephen A. Smith on First Take, the show that Bayless has been going up against on a daily basis for the past several years.
NBA News: ESPN Do Not Want Skip Bayless
Well, ESPN was quick to make their stance on this matter known. Apparently, the sports network juggernaut doesn’t want anything to do with Skip at the moment:
“We are set with the current First Take rotation, and wish Skip the best on his future endeavors,” an ESPN spokesman told Michael McCarthy of Front Office Sports.
That’s cold. This is the network pretty much saying, “We’re good, Skip.”
The truth of the matter is that they are. Stephen A. has firmly established himself as one of, if not the most renowned sports broadcasters in the game today, and while a potential reunion with his former TV co-host would be a major talking point among the fans, it seems that there’s no room for Bayless on First Take.
At this point, it remains unclear what Skip’s next career move will be. Could retirement be on the horizon for the 72-year-old? We shall soon find out.
